Beyond Interfaces:
The Future of Edible Interactions (DIS 2026)

What if food is a medium through which we engage with this hybrid physical-digital world?

This workshop brings together perspectives from HCI, fabrication, perceptual science, and material engineering to shape the future of edible interactions. Through multisensory demos, hands-on making, and playful experimentation, we will explore how technology, materials, and human experience can come together to reimagine food as an interactive medium. Together, we aim to build community, connect ideas, and chart new directions for the field.

Expect a mix of making, playing, thinking, tasting, and imagining. Together, we’ll explore how edible interactions can be sensed, transformed, and experienced across modalities — touch, taste, sound, and beyond.
